My story

I grew up in the Westfjords of Iceland and moved to Reykjavík at the age of sixteen to pursue my education. Over the years, I have lived and studied abroad, including a period of Spanish studies in Barcelona and working as an au pair in a small town in Finland. I hold three university degrees, one of them completed abroad, and have worked both at an advertising agency and in the marketing department of an international company. I currently work as a project manager at Geðhjálp (The Icelandic Mental Health Association), and as a part of my work there, I was, for a time, a project manager for Bataskóli Íslands (The Recovery College of Iceland).

Alongside my education and professional career, I struggled for many years with significant anxiety and emotional distress. I grew up in difficult circumstances at home and experienced bullying during my school years. Although I appeared to function well on the outside, I lived for a long time without a sense of safety, confidence, or connection to myself.

In my mid-twenties, I began a deliberate and sustained process of self-inquiry with the aim of feeling better and understanding myself more deeply. I soon realized that the answers I was seeking were not found solely within the conventional healthcare system, which led me to explore a range of approaches to self-reflection, therapeutic work, and personal development. Over the years, I have engaged in extensive training, guidance, and experiential learning across areas such as communication, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and personal growth.

Through this process, I have learned a great deal about:

  • How trauma and long-term stress affect individuals

  • How the nervous system shapes behavior, communication, and decision-making

  • How insecurity and protective responses manifest in daily life and relationships

  • and why a sense of internal safety is essential before meaningful change can take place

What I offer through my courses, lectures, and writing is grounded in a combination of professional experience, formal education, and lived experience. I emphasize clear, accessible language and practical insight, without dramatization or simplistic solutions. My aim is not to tell people what to do, but to support them in understanding themselves more clearly and taking responsibility for their own lives in a realistic and compassionate way.

I believe that genuine personal growth is not about becoming someone else, but about becoming whole — about being at home in oneself.
