There are times during my self-development when I feel like nothing is happening.

Recently, I experienced such feelings, only to discover that they were unfounded. Specifically, I reflected on my job search in 2016, when a friend who worked in human resources helped me secure a perfect position.

After a successful interview, I landed the job. I befriended someone at my new workplace who recommended that I visit Jóhanna Jónas Brennan, a healer. Taking their advice, I reached out to Jóhanna and began seeking healing sessions from her.

After several visits, she informed me about an upcoming shamanic program in which she would serve as an assistant teacher. Trusting my instincts, I enrolled in the program and commenced my studies in January 2019.

While participating in the shaman program, I met a woman who belonged to a weekly meditation group. I contacted her meditation teachers, who have greatly supported my growth since I joined the group two and a half years ago. Throughout this time, I faced unemployment, and despite my efforts to secure a job similar to my previous one, I encountered obstacles at every turn.

Following two years of being jobless, I secured a position at Geðhjálp, a mental health association. This job marks the first time my expertise, education, interests, and passions align. Shortly after joining, I became involved in the Geðlestin project (The Mental Health Train), which involved visiting schools to engage with children and teenagers about the significance of mental health. I also shared my journey of overcoming anxiety and distress.

With my workload and personal commitments, such as completing my shaman studies by early October, I was not actively seeking to take on anything new. Nevertheless, towards the end of August, I was approached with an opportunity to assist with a project for Starcodes Academy. In exchange, I would have the chance to participate in a spiritual study program commencing at the end of the summer.

Although I was aware of this program and found it intriguing, I had not considered signing up for it due to its overlap with the program I am currently undertaking. This is precisely why I accepted the invitation, as I perceived it as a sign that I should participate in this project with them at this particular moment.

Reflecting on the past few years, I realize that events have unfolded seemingly coincidentally, leading from one thing to another. I don't need to control the timing and realization of my dreams; as I focus on personal growth and release the past, things naturally progress at an accelerated pace.

The fascinating opportunities I have encountered and the exceptional individuals I have met who share my interests and enthusiasm for mental health, self-improvement, and personal growth prove it is so. While my life is not without its challenges, as long as I maintain trust in the natural order of things, the tasks that come my way become increasingly manageable.
