I have been avoiding creating a consistent daily routine for a while.

The idea of repeating the same activities daily, especially when the days themselves follow a predictable pattern (going to work, making dinner, etc.), can make life feel monotonous.

It's only now that I'm beginning to realize the importance of having a good routine, which is essential for success. Progress and learning are only possible through consistent repetition, typically daily.

While that single factor may not have motivated me to adopt healthier habits, it was more about my growing desire to establish balance in my life. Implementing a solid routine encompassing nutrition, physical activity, relaxation, leisure, and sleep could achieve this balance.

I've come to understand that having a routine and cultivating good habits doesn't mean every day has to be identical. It is up to me to be proactive in adding variety to my daily life, such as travelling, attending concerts, dining out, and exploring new experiences.

Over time, I have found that focusing on one task at a time yields the best results when cultivating positive habits. Although changing daily routines may be challenging, it is widely believed that consistently practising a behaviour for 21 days or a month can increase the likelihood of successfully changing a habit.

By establishing a routine, I have made it a habit to drink water consistently during the day and to take my vitamins and supplements. In the evening, I cleanse my face and floss meticulously. I've realized the importance of completing these tasks before becoming too tired and neglecting my bedtime routine.

I have been trying to include specific habits in my daily schedule for a while now. One of these habits involves revisiting the Spanish language I studied in secondary school and my time at a language school in Barcelona. Although I have had the language app Duolingo on my phone since 2016, it was only in the current year that I started using it regularly.

During the day, I strive to adhere to specific routines, including beginning my day with lemon water and probiotics, drinking at least two litres of water to stay hydrated, meditating for a minimum of 15 minutes in the morning or evening, taking my daily vitamins and supplements, spending some time practising Spanish, engaging in deep breathing and relaxation exercises, going for a 30-minute walk, and making sure to wash my face and floss before going to bed.

Positive routines are essential for sustaining a healthy lifestyle that nurtures mental, emotional, and physical well-being. While these routines may appear commonplace, I aim to improve my balance and consistently ensure a good day. Lately, I've found introducing diversity into my daily routine difficult because of financial limitations and the pandemic. However, I see it as an opportunity to discover the beauty in everyday moments, appreciate the little pleasures, and tackle situations with a new perspective.
